Why do I need to check my electrics? How often should I do it?

If you’re from a commercial enterprise, such as a school, pub, cinema etc., having your electrics checked is a legal obligation. In such instances, a yearly check is appropriate. If you’re a private homeowner, a minimum of every ten years should typically suffice. However, you may want to undergo more regular testing in certain circumstances, for example, if you’re putting the property on the market.

Why should I get my house rewired?

A combination of age and condition will dictate when and why to get your house rewired. So while there’s no fixed timescale per se, it certainly pays to have a trained electrician diagnose your house’s wiring requirements and to then act accordingly.

Where do you work?

Elecwork is based in Croydon in Greater London, but our work takes us all over the capital and the Home Counties. So from Chelsea to the Isle of Dogs, Hampstead to Purley, our electricians will never be too far away.

Elecwork was set up in 2007, but prior to that, our company founder built up many more years of experience, working for a range of other electrical teams in the local area.

Does Elecwork undertake work on the weekend?

We do! Our regular working hours are Monday to Saturday from 08:00 to 17:00. However, if you require electrical work outside these hours, we’ll certainly be happy to help. You can check out our rates page for a breakdown of our hourly rates at weekends.

As with most things, it’s contingent on a number of factors. However, we always do our best to make our pricing structure as transparent as possible for our customers. That’s why we work at an hourly rate, or on a price-per-project basis.
